Abba Cakes – As Seen on TV!

We’ve got some amazing news to share – our beloved Chocolate Cake has officially been named Britain’s Best Cake 2025! 🎉 Even better, it also picked up the Classic Cake award at the same time. To say we’re thrilled is an understatement!

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, BBC News North West came to visit our little shop in Hoylake to cover the story. Laura had the chance to chat with them about how the cake came to be – a recipe that started out as her own wedding cake and quickly became a customer favourite. Seeing it go from a personal creation to a nationally celebrated one has been such a special journey.

The cake itself is a rich dark chocolate sponge, layered with smooth double chocolate ganache and a gooey dulce de leche centre. It’s everything we love in a dessert – indulgent, comforting, and just a little bit nostalgic, with a nod to Laura’s Latin roots.

The awards took place at the NEC in Birmingham, where over 100 cakes were judged across seven categories. We’re still pinching ourselves that ours stood out among so many incredible entries. The judges praised its flavour, presentation, and beautifully piped finish – all the little details that we put so much love into.
