Our Chester cafe and cake shop on Lower Bridge Street is made for lingering. Order coffee with a slice of Britain's Best Chocolate Cake, browse the counter for hand-crafted desserts, or chat with the team about a celebration cake while you are in town.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

We opened in Hoylake in November 2022, the shop where Abba Cakes began in the UK. Drop in to pick up desserts, discuss cake designs for special occasions, and take home something handmade from the counter.

About Abba Cakes

Abba Cakes is an independent cake shop with locations in Hoylake, Wirral and Chester, owned and run by Laura Alejandra, a Colombian-born patisserie chef with more than fifteen years of experience across three countries.

Laura perfected her baking, flavours, and designs with a core essence of Latin and Mediterranean style. She specialises in cakes and desserts for weddings, birthdays, special events, and everyday occasions, plus catering including grazing tables with a high-quality choice of cakes and charcuterie.

We deliver commissioned cakes and catering across Wirral, Liverpool, Chester, North Wales, and surrounding areas. Abba Cakes won the top award at Britain's Best Cake Awards 2025. Our Chocolate Cake holds the Britain's Best Cake title and the Classic Cake Award.

Laura's journey

After starting Abba Cakes in Colombia, Laura moved to Spain to study business administration and continue her passion for patisserie.

Today the UK is home. Laura managed a local café, built a network of small businesses selling her cakes, cookies, and confectionery, and catered birthdays and weddings before opening her own dessert shops, first in Hoylake, then the cafe in Chester.

These shops are places to visit, buy hand-crafted desserts, and discuss cake designs for the moments that matter to you.
